Samsung Launches AI Enabled Smartphones As Apple Prepares for Vision Pro Launch

Tech & Science

Samsung has taken a distinct path from its tech rival, Apple, focusing on the smartphone market with the launch of its Galaxy S24 series. The lineup, introduced as part of what Samsung terms “the new era of mobile AI,” showcases the integration of artificial intelligence to improve user experiences.

The Galaxy S24 series boasts advanced features that promise to revolutionize communication. Among the highlights are intelligent text and call translations, innovative photo-editing tools, and a unique gesture-driven “Circle to Search” feature in collaboration with Google.

TM Roh, the president of Samsung’s Mobile eXperience Business, expressed enthusiasm, stating, “Galaxy AI is built on our innovation heritage and deep understanding of how people use their phones. We’re excited to see how our users around the world empower their everyday lives with Galaxy AI to open up new possibilities.”

Galaxy S24, S24+, And S24 Ultra

Samsung offers three models in the new series: the standard Galaxy S24, the midrange Galaxy S24+, and the premium Galaxy S24 Ultra. With prices ranging from $799.99 to $1,299.99, the smartphones are set to hit the market on January 31, with preorders already underway.

Apple’s Vision Pro Goggles

In contrast, Apple is gearing up to release the Apple Vision Pro, a spatial computing headset blending virtual and augmented reality elements. However, the $3,499 starting price has raised eyebrows among analysts, questioning the device’s utility and market reception. Apple’s Vision Pro is set for preorder on Friday and will be available for purchase on February 2.

Features Of Galaxy S24 Series

Samsung’s Galaxy S24 series brings real-time voice and text translations with Live Translate, enabling two-way communication in multiple languages. The Interpreter app facilitates instant translations during live conversations, even without cellular data or Wi-Fi.

Chat Assist, another feature, offers real-time translations for messages in 13 languages, enhancing global communication. Transcript Assist utilizes Artificial Intelligence (AI) and speech-to-text technology to transcribe, summarize, and translate voice recordings with multiple speakers.

AI-Powered Photo Tools And ‘Circle To Search’ With Google

The smartphones come equipped with AI-powered tools for improving photo capture and editing. Samsung has collaborated with Google for the innovative “Circle to Search” function, allowing users to interact with their screens through gestures for high-quality search results related to text and photos.

Samsung’s strategic move with the Galaxy S24 series reflects its determination to regain the top spot in the global smartphone market, where Apple emerged as the leader in unit shipments last year, surpassing Samsung for the first time, according to IDC.

As Samsung aims for a resurgence, the battle for technological supremacy between these industry giants continues to unfold.
