UPDATE: SpriteNews Is Down! (For Some Users…) ◊
By James Rosemary ◊
UPDATE: SpriteNews is back for all users! We’re sure that our hundreds upon hundreds of readers (one day millions) are breathing easier knowing that their source for all-things-newsworthy… is back regardless of ISP.
What happened exactly? We don’t know. We did make a sizable donation to the Romney Campaign, as well as a $2 donation to the Obama Campaign. We’d have given Obama more, but that’s all the Obama camp asked for. We had even considered asking attendees to my wife’s baby shower to give Obama Campaign contributions instead of gifts for the baby (as actually requested by an official Obama Campaign email). But lo and behold, the site was back before the baby shower.
Around 10:30(ish) yesterday morning our website went down. However, the outage appeared to be for only some users. Like the POTUS Obama, reluctant to take the blame for anything, I first thought it was the Romney Campaign because of Alan Robertson’s article: Why I Won’t Vote For Mitt Romney. However, after further investigation it was determined that.. in fact, we can’t entirely rule out a Romney Campaign conspiracy.
Seriously: As of this writing, the problem seems to only affect Century Link users, as I have a different ISP and am able to access the website at this moment to post this update. Funny how, as far as we know, only Century Link users are being affected. Were Century Link users targeted by the Romney Campaign strictly based of the fact that they offer the lowest priced internet packages in most areas? Targeting lower income families and cheap-ass people? I’m not pointing fingers, just offering up some suggestions.
No, really seriously: As of 8:35 AM MST the site is still inaccessible for Century Link and while we’re working on finding solutions we will continue to keep our users updated through twitter @SpriteNewsNRC
Also we have put in a couple calls to the Romney Campaign but are still awaiting a response…
